FAQ's

How do you clean quartz worktops?

Cleaning quartz worktops is simple and low maintenance. For daily cleaning, use a soft cloth or sponge with warm water and a mild dish soap. Wipe the surface in circular motions and rinse with clean water. For tougher marks, use a non abrasive surface cleaner designed for quartz.

Do quartz worktops stain?

Quartz worktops are highly stain resistant because they are non-porous. Everyday spills such as coffee, wine, oil, or juice will not soak into the surface if cleaned promptly.
However, long-term exposure to strong dyes, harsh chemicals, or heat-damaged areas can cause surface discolouration. Regular gentle cleaning helps keep the quartz looking pristine.

Are quartz worktops heat resistant?

Quartz worktops are heat resistant, but they are not fully heat proof. Excessive heat can damage the resin within the worktop.
Hot pans, trays, slow cookers, and air fryers placed directly on the surface may cause thermal shock or leave burn marks.
To protect your quartz worktop, always use:

  • Heat mats

  • Trivets

  • Chopping boards

Do you also fit granite and quartz?

Yes, we are trusted suppliers of Granite and Quartz work surfaces. Please contact the team for further information.

How are quartz worktops made?

Quartz worktops are made by combining 90 – 95% natural quartz crystals with resins, pigments and binding agents to create a strong and non-porous engineered stone surface.

The process begins with crushing and cleaning raw quartz, which is then mixed with resin and colour pigments. This mixture is placed into large moulds and vacuum compressed to remove air pockets and create a dense, durable slab.

The slabs are then heated in a kiln to harden the resin, cooled, and polished to the desired finish.
Finally, we cut the slab to size, shape the edges, and create cut-outs for sinks, hobs and drainer grooves before installation.

What are the disadvantages of quartz worktops?

They are not fully heat proof, meaning extreme heat can damage the resin within the surface.

Quartz can also discolour if exposed to direct sunlight for long periods, which is why outdoor use isn’t recommended.

Additionally, quartz is typically more expensive than laminate or wooden worktops, and because it is extremely hard, it must be cut and installed by a professional.

Is quartz worktop better than granite?

Quartz and granite are both high stone quality surfaces, but quartz offers several advantages for most homes. Quartz worktops are non-porous, meaning they don’t require sealing and are more resistant to stains and bacteria. They also offer more consistent colours and patterns.

Granite, being a natural stone, provides a unique, one of a kind appearance but does require regular sealing to maintain its stain resistance. I

n terms of durability, both are strong, but quartz generally wins for ease of maintenance and everyday practicality.

Can you put hot pans on quartz worktops?

No, you should avoid placing hot pans, trays or appliances directly on a quartz worktop.

While quartz is heat resistant, the resin binder can scorch or crack when exposed to very high temperatures.
